Today Darryl Metcalf from ExtraSkater.com joins the show to talk about the reasons he created his website, the features and cool things the site can do, and the Toronto Maple Leafs’ aversion to advanced stats.

Sort of a stream of consciousness for tonight’s brawl vs the Leafs

  • Granlund’s stickhandling is very impressing. He makes a lot of quick passes or handles that just make me say ‘wow.’
  • Wild announcers still talking about how Toronto is doing “chip and chase” and “why would you want to turn the puck over” when just last year it was “simple stupid math” that the Wild could dump and chase and forecheck…
  • I was really on the fence about Matt Cooke coming into the season, and I have to say now that he is a really solid third-line player. Took a bad penalty late in the game last week but makes a lot of solid plays. Lots of little things that add up.
  • Coyle made a tremendous deke, would have been a highlight goal if it had gone in. Really nice toe drag to sidestep a defender
  • I know the Wild have a top power play but I would like to see them move the puck more…they set up nicely and look for cross-crease passes but they look a little stagnant sometimes Read on…
Sort of a stream of consciousness from tonight’s insane game at Toronto
  • Tonight is the team’s first back-to-back contest–I’ll be watching to see how they do on tired legs. Mike Yeo consciously rolled four lines last night at Buffalo in anticipation of tonight‘s game so let’s see how they do against a good Leafs team.
  • Hashtag Mister Darcy
  • I’m starting to really believe the Wild might not be able to afford (no pun intended) to keep giving Dany Heatley top-six minutes. Could they move him to the third line with Cooke/Brodziak before Thanksgiving?
  • Three great chances for the top PP unit against one of the league’s top PK units early in the game
  • Spurgeon lays out on the Leafs first PP goal…and looks foolish for having done so Read on…
